She said it is silly that I am telling “you” that, whoever it is that “you” are.

My name is Briar Halleway. My best friend happens to also be my wife, Thandi. I have other friends. I am just not married to them. My other best friend is my emotional support raven, Rev. I am also not married to him. Consider him a roommate.

My hobbies include reading, whittling, watching documentaries, sometimes movies. I garden. I can build things out of wood. I do enjoy hiking. Camping is good. I cook with my wife. I am excellent at chopping a vegetable or two.

There is nothing interesting about me but my wife said that I need to write the bare minimum. She also said to delete that. Stop that she said. Now she is laughing. I told her I am not deleting it and she said it’s fine, so I am keeping this part.

Backstory

A noble from a well-known ducal family in East Istres, Charlie is a bastard. His mother conceived him with her servant and secret lover, whom Charlie resembles to an uncanny degree. His legal father, Lord Byron Vanderbee, still required an heir and kept the boy. Charlie suffered abuse for years before being abducted into the Inheritors. His abductor, Thandi Kahsu, ended up charming him and so he clings to her quite avidly.

Growing up unaware of his true heritage and the nature of his father’s ire, he grew to despise noble society’s expectations and hypocrisy. His destructive nature was focused inward, making him dour and explosive from a young age. His mother, in an effort to curb his anger, trained him as a doctor from the tender age of five forward. The experiences tempered his feelings toward common people and the ailing, and he gained his license at 17, practicing his craft as often as possible even when at his own expense. Much to his mother’s dismay, his suicidal tendencies remain strong and he will work and research far past his body’s ability to keep up.

Reverend Peanut

Rev is Charlie’s companion bird, a raven found while investigating a Guardian outpost. The bird took interest in Charlie and the free food he offered and the pair became fast friends.

Well-loved by all the Inheritors, Rev is something like a mascot character. He can repeat rudimentary words.
