Charlie bows deeply, hand to his chest. “As you wish, my lady.” He straightens, giving her his best smile. “My name is Charlie Vanderbee. I hope to serve you well.”
She laughs kindly and waves her hand in front of her face. “There’s no need for all that. Come! Sit with me. It must’ve been a long journey.” She sits on her plump white sofa and beckons him with a wave, leaning back to get comfortable.
