Charlie/Briar purrs and growls and stuff. Why is he a cat boy?
His first incarnation was a druid in a game of D&D 5E. He was flirting with Thandi and she dropped that she likes cats, suggesting that he become a panther. In the original canon (there are so many), during his separation from the rest of his party, he spent a lot of time as a cat and it “rubbed off” on him. That’s the story reason.
The real reason is that it’s cute, and I like beast men.
Why are there multiple Thandis?
Because plot. Her arc is the same across the board, so she has three incarnations to Charlie’s two. We have Potion!Thandi, who is bright-eyed and bushy-tailed to an extreme degree and suffering from memory lapses. We have Raven, Thandi without her memories. And we have Final!Thandi, or real Thandi, who takes on the helm of her inheritance… to live a happy life for her ancestors’ sake. If something is tagged simply “Thandi”, it’s Final!Thandi.
Why does Charlie/Briar have multiple names?
Because plot. His arc is also fully plotted in Adaptation. He changes his name from Charlie Vanderbee, given to him by his legal father, to Briar Halleway, the name his parents wanted to give him (and his mother’s maiden name). Part of the reason is just to cover up his true identity to avoid being recognized in Alleria.
Where did Rev go?
I’m sorry, sometimes I forget he exists.
“Godsdamned”…?
I can’t live without using names in vain. It takes everything in my power not to have Charlie just say, “Christ alive, we’re all fucked!” or some shit like that. Also, Istres has twelve gods, so. Gods. As an aside, ‘gods above and below’ exists. Look, this is fantasy anachronism and I don’t really want to be coming up with everything. If I go too deep, I’ll end up making a foreign language again.
I found a typo [insert place here], will you fix it? The quality is pretty low…
hahaha i know man this is almost entirely first draft stuff. i’m not posting this stuff for critiques, i’m just posting because i like seeing it. my writing process usually looks like this:
So we’re lucky to get anything good out of me that doesn’t look like this.
